Overview of Position: Responsible for the physical possession of controlling and safely navigating standard size school bus, as well as the care of passengers, including their safety, security, and assisting them on- and off- the vehicle; and any authorized items.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Drive a bus safely, efficiently, and courteously on all public highways and private property as directed, including cities and mountainous regions, through all kinds of weather conditions.
Treat all passengers, company personnel, and other individuals associated with their assigned work in a friendly, courtesy, and professional manner. A hired driver is known as a "People Person."
Know and apply both safe driving techniques and the requirements, limitations and provisions of the DOT regulations, which pertain to the operation of commercial passenger transportation vehicles.
Read, write, and speak English fluently. The ability to speak a foreign language would be advantageous.
Complete all required paperwork legibly, neatly, and in a timely manner.
Perform Pre- / Post-trip inspections, including interior and exterior of vehicle, engine compartment, and No Child Left Behind.
Maintain a driving record free of all major traffic citations, including no major "at fault" vehicle accidents.
Other duties as required.
Education and/or Experience:
Possess and maintain a Commercial Drivers License, Class B, including a Passenger (P) & School Bus (S) endorsements.
Should have a minimum of 2 years proven experience.
Possess and maintain a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) driver physical qualification.
Must be 25 years of age or older for interstate driving.
Must be willing and able to drive anytime.
Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen, and adhere to Miller’s Drug and Alcohol and Employment Policies.
