Motor Coach/ Scheduled Service Driver - Columbus, OH
Overview of Position:
Responsible for the physical possession of controlling and safely navigating a for-hire bus/coach, as well as any and all other company for-hire vehicles as assigned; the care of travel passengers, including their safety, security, and assisting them on- and off- the vehicle; authorized passenger baggage placed aboard the vehicle and transported within a baggage compartments; all monies collected from fare-paying passengers; accounting for all passenger tickets and bus bills collected; the transport and discharging of all scheduled, chartered, tour, or sightseeing passengers.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Drive a motor coach of up to 45-feet in length and any other company for-hire passenger vehicles safely, efficiently, and courteously on all public highways and private property as directed, including cities and mountainous regions, through all kinds of weather conditions.
Treat all passengers, company personnel, business partners and other individuals associated with their assigned work in a friendly, courtesy, and professional manner.
Know and apply both safe driving techniques and the requirements, limitations and provisions of the DOT regulations, which pertain to the operation of commercial passenger transportation vehicles.
Drivers must comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. No person shall be denied access to transit service, programs, or activities simply because they have a disability.
Drivers are to assist with boarding and debarking when asked, including help with luggage, items transported under the coach, and any mobility devices that are on board or under the coach.
Read, write, and speak English fluently.
Complete all required paperwork legibly, neatly, and in a timely manner.
Maintain a driving record free of all major traffic citations, including no major "at fault" vehicle accidents.
Have the ability to load and unload baggage by hand up to a weight of 75 lbs.
Scheduled Services (GoBus, Hoosier Ride, etc.):
Tickets can be purchased with cash from the driver when boarding the bus. The driver can only accept cash and exact fare is required as the drivers do not carry change.
Children 5 years and younger ride for free. They DO NOT need a ticket to ride the bus, however they must be accompanied by someone who is 17 years of age or older.
Children 12 and under must be accompanied by someone who is 17 years of age or older.
Customers are welcome to use child safety seats. If the bus is full, the seat will need to be purchased. The customer is responsible for providing the strapping or the webbing to properly secure the seat.
No animals will be permitted except for trained service animals.
Drivers are required to open the luggage bays at each stop and assist with loading and unloading of the passengers’ bags. The driver will close the luggage bay doors when loading and unloading is complete.
Bicycles can be transported under the bus if there is available space in the luggage bay.
Mobility impaired passengers can have a personal care attendant (PCA) ride with them for no charge. A disabled passenger can only have 1 PCA ride with them for no charge.
Other duties as required.
Education and/or Experience:
Possess and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License, Class B, including a Passenger (P) & School Bus (S) endorsements.
Should have a minimum of 2 years proven experience.
Possess and maintain a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) driver physical qualification.
Must be 24 years of age or older for interstate driving.
