Dispatcher - CDL Holder

FLSA: Full-Time, Exempt (Salary) 
SCHEDULE: Monday- Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with lunch period
SUPERVISES: None                                                                     
SUPERVISED BY: Operations Manager

Dispatcher plans routes and schedules; insuring the overall coverage required to meet the transportation scheduling demands; and evaluating, resolving and/or recommending solutions to incidents, complaints and/or accidents.

Essential Job Responsibilities: 
  • Coordinates scheduling of vehicles and drivers for meeting overall transportation requirements.
  • Develops routes for determining driver and equipment requirements.
  • Resolves schedule problems (i.e., stop requests, updating maps, driver absenteeism, out-of-service vehicles, etc) insuring all routes are covered.
  • Verifies and approves driver Time Off Request.
  • Acts as liaison between drivers and maintenance to resolve roadside issues.
  • Reviews and tracks all driver logs.
  • Responds to inquires relating to routes, schedules, operational problems/procedures.
  • Compiles a variety of data for developing reports, information and mandated requirements.
  • May perform functions of a Motor Coach Driver in event of shortage of drivers.
  • Follows all company and OSHA safety guidelines and policies.
  • Will act as On-Call for all Dispatch needs after hours.
  • Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience: 
  • High School or GED required, and 2+ years of Passenger driver experience/dispatcher preferred.
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written) in order to give instructions clearly, and ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations under pressure.
  • Due to large number of calls, must stay organized and prioritize the order of calls.
  • Current Commercial Drivers License “B” with P Endorsement
  • Must have knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
  • Experience in the use of Computer and associated software.
  • Must be able to pass Pre-Employment Drug Screen, and adhere to Miller’s Drug/Alcohol policy.
